Radiotherapy

Do you have any tips or advice that may help others support those who are going through treatment, including with any ongoing side effects?

Yes, to keep as fit as possible and to continue as much as possible with any exercise. To eat a healthy diet and to do everything possible to maintain normal life so that when the treatment is over you can get back to normal as quickly as possible.

Please tell us how their treatment impacted your life the most.

Lack of sex drive and sexual functionality. Slight weight gain and occasional tiredness. Hormone treatment caused anger flashes initially but these subsided. Bowel habits have changed.

Thinking about your own wellbeing, what has helped you to cope, and where have you gone to find support? What tips and advice would you give to others?

Talking with friends was really helpful. Reading about prostate cancer was helpful but also terrifying. The nurses were very reassuring but I would recommend finding out as much as possible about the cancer and the treatment so that you feel more in control.
