Radical Prostatectomy (Surgery)
How this treatment impacted my life the most
Consequential inguinal hernia (trocar port, 1 year later) Incisional hernia (Prostate removal site, 2 years post surgery) which caused Meraliga Paresthetica, hobbling and then injured ankle. In total these effects had reduced my energy and fitness and physical activities including voluntary support such as Safety Boat duties. 5 years on I am still alive and improving health and fitness, but with a rising PSA indicating a recurrence and will soon be expecting a PSMA-PET scan followed by radiotherapy and probably hormone therapy
If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?
Not sure
Why did I give this answer?
Treatments and equipment continue to change but, at the time it was probably the best choice and luckily followed an "optimum" pathway, but unluckily a sufficient level of more aggressive cancer to require a choice of treatment pathway.
