Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

If you are lucky enough to have a partner, discuss everything with them. If penetrative sex is difficult. Try other forms of intimacy that can be just as rewarding.

How this treatment impacted my life the most

Immediately after the treatment I had some minor urinary problems. Mostly discomfort, but these wore off within days. Then I had a short period of increased urgency in urination. Again that wore off after a while. After those things there was some pain in ejaculation and anxiety over erectile dysfunction but those too wore off over time. 5 years on, thanks to lots of talking, and a very understanding wife, we have a happy sex life.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

Everything I've read about a prostatectomy makes me think that I chose the right treatment. I know that some men want their cancer cut out as soon as possible, but I was lucky enough to have other options and I think the brachytherapy was right for me.
