Pelvic floor exercises definitely helped. Uretha massage helped . Double voided sometimes with a running tap and fingers under water helped. Definitely use of pads of various sizes started with large ones at start and throughout radiotherapy treatment now on shield or Tena men mini

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

Luckily or not my wife has fibromyalgia so sex has been a no no for a few years now. Used to masturbate but now lost interest in that due to difficulty in getting and maintaining an erection and also dry orgasm leading to thinking what’s the point and there is a lot more to life than sex !

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

Listen to your body when tired so important to rest, often have a nap in the afternoon which is fine being retired ! Hot sweats use Sage capsules from Holland and Barrett which seem to help, along with quilt on,quilt off , quilt on quilt off especially through the night . Pain killers and ibuprofen to help with pain and swelling. Moisturiser for dry skin. Excercise especially swimming as it is low weight bearing to help with weight gain and eating a healthy diet !!

Tips and advice for any mental and emotional side effects of treatment

Talk to partner , family and friends it is ok to be not ok 👍 for depression anxiety and emotional issues . Games on I phone to help with memory .

How this treatment impacted my life the most

SCANXIETY before every MRI , radiotherapy treatment every weekday for six weeks. 3 monthly PSA test always raises anxiety levels. Blood tests, bone scans , rectal examination of prostate

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

I was so lucky 🍀 in finding the cancer so early whilst it was just in the prostate . If left it is more than likely that it would have spread to lymph glands , bone, blood or other organs ??
