The fundamental reason for hormone therapy is to reduce testosterone and PSA levels and therefore reduce the ability of the cancer to spread. Loss of sexual function is a less worse outcome than dying

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

Over a year into the 3 monthly injections and I still get daily hot sweats. Fortunately they only last for a few minutes. I keep focussed on the fact that they are keeping me well

Try to accept that radiation will change your bladder function and do the exercises to help improve volume

Tips and advice for any mental and emotional side effects of treatment

Try to accept that anxiety is a normal human emotion when undergoing this type of treatment. Speak to the staff, talk to others in the waiting room. Listen to all the tips you get from fellow patients

How this treatment impacted my life the most

The radiation period was difficult for me with gradual worsening of my bladder function but the time passed quickly and the side effects are slowly improving.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

I knew that not having the treatment would result in the cancer spreading and I want to live
