Hormone Therapy (tablets)

Tips and advice for any bladder or bowel side effects of treatment

I found pelvic floor type exercises helped to reduce this.

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

I found that after I stopped taking the hormone tablets, my penis and testicles returned to their previous state. However, ejaculated was less than before taking the tablets. My sex drive also increased afterwards.

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

I found that I had weakness in my legs for a long time after treatment. I am a keen walker and over time I built up to walks of 15 miles but still experience some weakness. I also experience a loss of balance.

How this treatment impacted my life the most

Hormone tablets had the most impact..weight gain, loss of interest in sex. Weakness in legs. Radiotherapy caused existing back pain to worsen.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

Initially I opted to have the surgical procedure to remove the prostate. I changed my decision and had radiotherapy and Bicalutimide. This I feel allowed me to regain some sexual function.
