Watchful Waiting

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

This was the initial treatment I received whilst they were checking my PSA levels following first reading July 22nd 2021. (PSA 5.98)

How this treatment impacted my life the most

The main problem was from Fatigue, this was the reason for the initial blood test that my GP gave me to check my bloods . From this they found my PSA was raised.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

It was suggested to me that I waited 3months for a comparison blood test to see what the next step would be. Unfortunately the next appointment did not materialise until I made contact in April 2022. That saw my PSA raise to 16.58

Radiotherapy

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

These side effects began with the first dose of hormone therapy, so I can’t say this was due to radiotherapy.

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

Hot sweats swelling breasts muscle weakness and fatigue were all related to initial hormone therapy, but I did notice more fatigue on some days once the radiotherapy begun , however throughout the treatments I have tried to remain positive and go walking and swimming but not over doing the exercise .

How this treatment impacted my life the most

Once the radiotherapy began I felt more positive that my treatment was underway and that in turn gave me more positive energy, but I had days of more fatigue so needed to listen to my body. It also meant visiting the hospitals daily for a series of 21 treatments.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

There was no question me not having the treatment I have received as it is the means to improving my future health and the support from the hospital staff has been excellent

Hormone Therapy (injections and relugolix tablets)

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

I can’t offer advice but I lost my libido once I began the hormone therapy. However my wife and I continue to be close and share affection in other ways which I do find emotional lovely

Tips and advice for any physical side effects of treatment

Hot sweats especially at night have been the side effect which has caused me most problems with many nights of disturbed sleep. Read your PCR booklets. Although hit with fatigue, by managing my activities when I have energy as suggested in PCR booklets I have been able to swim and dog walk regularly. However I need to rest and nap when needed.
