This treatment undoubtedly prolonged my life and I am grateful that it was both diagnosed at a fairly early stage and that it has been successful. There are lasting effects from it, however, and these can be difficult to live with. But that must be balanced against the fact that I am fortunate still to be alive and able to lead a moderately normal life.
