Radical Prostatectomy (Surgery)

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

Take things slow. There are more than one way to satisfy a lover. Orgasm usually happens but penetration only sometimes. My partner is very understanding about that.

How this treatment impacted my life the most

I had very painful episode during the 24 hour period after catheter was removed c10 days after robotic surgery. Nobody warned me that this can happen when the bladder has been inactive for a few days. I remained at home but was visited by an emergency doctor who prescribed strong painkillers. Thankfully the pain passed after a few hours. Otherwise, pretty smooth recovery.

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes

Why did I give this answer?

Robotic keyhole surgery is amazing. I was only in hospital one night, I guess partly because it was during COVID lockdown. I go for regular blood tests ( 3 months then 6 months) to check PSA level (negligible since) but otherwise have not had to have any further surgery. My sexual desire has not reduced much although erections are not as good. At my age I can live with that in the knowledge that otherwise my PC was caught in time and I am around for my wife and children and hopefully grandchildren in the future.
