Radical Prostatectomy (Surgery)

Tips and advice for any bladder or bowel side effects of treatment

I leaked quite heavily for a while but i had taken the doctors advice and began pelvic floor exercises before and after the surgery, I was really concerned that the leaking would stay with me for life however, i was extremely pleased that within 2-3 months after the surgery the leaking has stopped being intrusive and no longer an issue

Tips and advice for any sexual side effects of treatment

Understandably this can be concerning for men, it was more of a mental struggle for me for a long period of time after surgery and i very much felt i had lost my masculinity. I blame these intrusive thoughts of not being able to satisfy my partner sexually for my loss of libido. Talking to my partner openly about it was the best thing i did to move forward, The pelvic exercises definitely help and i recommend using medication. The dry orgasms are strange at first but if anything i find them more intense and both me and my partner have an active sex life again

Tips and advice for any mental and emotional side effects of treatment

Use any local support groups and the after care team! I found talking about how i felt with my partner really helped and breaking the barrier and talking openly about what you have gone through can be surprisingly helpful. Talk to your GP if you need to

If I had to do it all over again, would I choose the same treatment?

Yes
